Jenny & Daniel

jenny and daniel customer stories
Daniel and Jenny became engaged at the very top of the red crater here near Mt Rongariro, New Zealand. Being engaged here in New Zealand had a part to play in keeping the rings of a more sentimental value to them, so having them made by the Jens Hansen workshop, who made the one ring to rule them all, for The Lord of the Rings seemed a perfect fit.

It is traditional for brides to receive two rings, the first is an engagement ring which symbolises a promise of marriage. A wedding ring or commonly referred to as a wedding band is then given during the wedding ceremony, and this band is traditionally known to solidify and strengthen that promise.

Titanium vs tungsten wedding bands for men

Titanium vs tungsten wedding bands for men
The size of your hands and fingers will change over your life time and the life of your wedding rings. Tungsten and titanium rings are almost impossible respectively to work with after they have been machined in the factory. The chance of finding anyone near you who can work with them is negligible.

“There wasn’t a lot of money for jewellery in those early years of our marriage,” Tony remembers. “We started our family – Joel, who is now 25, Jontee is 22, and Oscar is 15 – and we were mortgaged to the hilt. One year, I bought her a bottle of perfume for her birthday. She insisted I take it back and told me the money would be much better spent on nappies.”

Modern transformation of heirloom diamonds

Modern transformation of heirloom diamonds
We worked with the couple to handcraft an engagement/wedding ring using a classic Jens Hansen design and Rebecca’s very special heirloom stones. The quality diamonds we set into her beautiful ring were from four individual family rings including her mother’s engagement ring and a ring once owned by Rebecca’s grandmother.

The Lord of the Rings Stunt Ring goes to Japan
Our big 'stunt' ring is in Japan for the opening of The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug. Tourism New Zealand, and Warner Bros Japan are hosting Ring-san and have made him feel very welcome as he travelled from Nelson, around New Zealand and on to Japan. The following are translations of the original @PureNZinJapan

Team Jens Hansen Profile - Amanda Wearing

Not only is she organised, she is quite creative, and once worked as an illustrator for an Australian educational website. She did a brilliant illustration of Halfdan and his moustache for his birthday card this year! Having a design bent means she appreciates the Jens Hansen style.  When asked what her favourite piece of Jens Hansen jewellery is she says either the Sydney Fin ring or the Mobius Twist Bangle

Soon, with apprentices and assistants on board to keep up with the nationwide orders Gurli sought, and the growing local demand, the workshop moved to Hardy St, and later to its current location on the corners of Selwyn Place and Trafalgar Square.

Jens’ talent, energy, enthusiasm, and outspoken personality made the Jens Hansen workshop a place where artisans from all over the world came to learn about the craft, and experience Nelson culture, Jens Hansen style.
