What is wedding ring engagement ring order?

When it comes to the wedding ring engagement ring order, traditionally the engagement ring is given first at the commencement of the engagement and worn on the ring finger of the left hand until the wedding.  On the wedding day the engagement ring is removed from the finger and a separate wedding ring is placed on the ring finger of the left hand.  The engagement ring is then typically placed back on the finger next to the wedding band and thus closest to the end of the finger.  An alternative is to wear the engagement ring on the other hand after marriage (i.e. the ring finger of the right-hand) .
