Aquamarine is the March birthstone, and is most well known for its soothing properties, traditionally being worn to help encourage a long and happy marriage.

Ancient legend also refers to aquamarine as being the treasure of mermaids, and sailors claimed that it helped to keep them safe while at sea.

Aquamarine belongs to the beryl family of gemstones and is closely related to emerald. Iron gives the stone its beautiful colour, which ranges from the palest hint of blue to a strong sky blue.

Aquamarine is also a hard stone so its a great choice if you're looking for an everyday piece.
